About 46-0
46-0 is a free online football game where you draft a Championship all-star XI from 30 years of iconic second-tier squads and find out whether your side could survive a full 46-game season unbeaten — in the world's hardest league.
How It Works
- Choose your game mode — Classic or Current Season (2025-26).
- Pick a difficulty — Easy, Normal, Hard, or Chaos.
- Name your side and pick a formation.
- Spin to draw a random Championship club and season.
- Draft one player from that squad into a matching position in your XI.
- Repeat for 11 rounds until every position is filled.
- The board appoints a manager. Some help. Some don't. You don't get a choice.
- One opponent is randomly assigned as your bogey team — they get a bonus against you in both fixtures. Just like real football, some teams always have your number.
- Watch your season unfold match by match. Can you win promotion? Go unbeaten? Achieve the impossible 46-0?
The 46-0 Challenge
No club has ever gone 46-0. The Championship is the most unpredictable league in the world — anyone can beat anyone on any Tuesday night. The simulation uses a Poisson goal model with Championship chaos mechanics: form swings, giant-killings, bogey teams, and away-day variance. Even an elite squad rated 92+ has less than a 1% chance of going 46-0.
Game Modes
Classic — 24 iconic squads from '93 to '22. Newcastle, Sunderland, Wolves, Leeds, and 20 more legendary sides. You replace one at random and play the other 23 twice.
Current Season (2025-26) — Last season's real Championship clubs. You replace Sheffield Wednesday (0 points, -18 deduction, administration) and take on the actual division. Same draft pool — different opponents.
Difficulty
Easy — 5 rerolls. Full control over your draft picks. See all player ratings.
Normal — 3 rerolls. Full control. See all player ratings.
Hard — 1 reroll. Player ratings are hidden — you draft blind.
Tuesday Night — 1 reroll. No choice at all. The board auto-picks your players and slots them in for you. You get a brief transfer deadline reveal to see who you've ended up with before the season kicks off. Pure chaos.
Formations
4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1, 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 5-4-1. Players can only fill positions they genuinely play — multi-position players (like Stuart Dallas at LB/RB/CM) are the key strategic mechanic.
Chemistry
Draft players from the same club-season to earn chemistry bonuses. Legendary partnerships (Phillips & Quinn, Neves & Jota, Grealish & McGinn) earn an extra boost. Chemistry is capped — but certain managers can raise or lower that cap.
Managers
After your 11th draft pick, the board appoints a manager at random. You don't get a choice. Some managers give you a genuine edge — boosting goals, tightening your defence, or raising your chemistry cap. Others are a liability — blanking your attack, bottling the run-in, or torpedoing team chemistry. That's the Championship.
Leaderboard
Submit your score at the end of the season to compete on the global leaderboard. Filter by All Time, Classic, Current Season (2025-26), or Today's scores. Top 50 by points.
FAQ
Is it free? Yes. Browser-based, nothing to download, no account needed.
Can you actually go 46-0? Yes, but it's extremely rare. The chaos mechanics mean even elite squads drop points. That's the challenge.
Do I need an account? No. Play instantly. Leaderboard submissions only require a team name.
Is there always a bogey team? Yes. Every game, one random opponent is assigned as your bogey team. They get a boost against you in both fixtures — home and away. You find out who it was in your end-of-season review.
What about the managers? 12 Championship legends (and liabilities). Half help, half hurt. You don't pick — the board decides. No spoilers.
What does Tuesday Night mode do? The board drafts your entire squad for you. Players are auto-picked and auto-slotted. You get 1 reroll and a transfer deadline reveal before kick-off. Total surrender.
